At the heart of coaching is the idea that clients must be given the power to help themselves through structured questioning and that offering advice, opinions and judgements would undermine some of the basic principles behind coaching. 

Mentoring shares some of those principles behind life coaching, but Mentors absolutely offer advice, opinions and experience

Consultants are hired, not just to offer advice and experience, but to actually do the work - they’re hired to accomplish a certain task. 

I offer the whole set, depending on what the client needs.

Coaching sessions will typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. 

The first session is always different, but after that, we'd aim to set goals and objectives. A large part of the sessions therefore are to check-in and evaluate what's been achieved and learnt and set new goals. 

Coaching should be seen seen as a partnership.  Your success is my success.

My fees are £80 per session, usually paid for in four-session blocks of £320. Discounts are available for pre-payment of 8 sessions or more. These prices represent excellent value for a coach of my experience and expertise.

My clients pay by bank transfer or credit card (via PayPal). Some business clients pay via their company invoicing system.

Firstly, and most importantly, you need a coach or mentor you like and trust. Their job is to encourage you to do something that inherently difficult and risky, so it's essential that you trust them. 

The one mistake I've seen  is that they people hire coaches that have  enthusiasm and energy (which no bad thing) but little experience. Telling you you're amazing and your dreams WILL come true, you just have to dream it isn't helpful. 

So, when selecting a coach or mentor, you should look for a combination of someone that you like and trust AND has the experience to guide you.

Great coaches are;

Challengers: They'll challenge people's preconceived ideas, assumptions and mindsets

Facilitators: This is about helping you make the right decisions, at the right time. In my experience, decisions that people agonise about decisions for days, months and even years can get solved in minutes. The client knows the answer, they just needed the confidence to make the decision which comes from talking.

Able to give you practical (and sometimes blunt) advice: Coaching is not about giving motivational speeches and glib platitudes. What most people are looking for are practical tools to use

It’s a friendly discussion. First we look at the challenges and issues that are concerning you. I’ll explain the way that my style of coaching may help you achieve the changes you desire and the different approaches we could adopt.

Finally I’ll ask very simply if you would like to do more work with me. There is no obligation to say yes and at no point during the call do I make the assumption that you will become a client.
